“VICE News Tonight” (VNT) cuts through the spin, disinformation and punditry to bring in-depth coverage of the day’s top stories.
On-the-ground reporting went where others feared to go and told stories others wouldn’t tell, with a focus on the human element that gets lost in the never-ending stream of tweets and headlines. The series took viewers deeper and provides the tools to navigate a world of disinformation, both from award-winning correspondents in the field and from experts in their fields.
It lasted from 2016 – 2023, with the first 3 years airing as a series on HBO, and the last 4 years airing on ViceTV.

Day 1:
As a show launch hire, I was tasked with developing the finishing workflow & training the finishing room team. VNT operated similar to a typical live series except there was no host, segments would be created by multiple editors from around the world, colored & mixed from an in-house team, and then those pieces would be quality-control (QC’ed) with Legal, Executive Producers, and more inside of a control room, where final edits: edits, legal notes, music changes, shot swaps, package updates, identity concealment, blurs would all need to occur as fast as possible in order to hit our TX/Broadcast time.
Fixing anything and everything that could go wrong in a 4-8 minute package/segment as fast as possible.

I was the lead-finishing editor tasked with performing this nightly impossible task and doing those final edits as fast as humanly possible in order to deliver our show before 7:00pm each night, to hit a 7:30pm air time. I led a team of 3 that I trained up from Assistant Editors into award winning finishing editors.
